Herring with pickled onions in tomato-dill marinade
Onions are pickled separately, and then mixed with herring and aged in tomato-dill pickled using Maheev ketchup. The result is a very tasty appetizer that is good in itself, with bread, and as an addition to potatoes in any form.
Ingredients
- lightly salted medium herring 1 pc.
- onion 2 pcs.
- onion marinade:
- apple cider vinegar 30 ml
- cold boiled water 30 ml
- freshly ground black pepper 1 pinch (s)
- sugar 1 tsp.
- tomato-dill marinade:
- ketchup "Krasnodarskiy" Maheev 5 tbsp.
- garlic cloves 2 pcs.
- sugar 2 tsp.
- sweet paprika powder 1 tsp
- vegetable oil 2 tbsp
- fresh dill 0.5 bunch (a)
STEP-BY-STEP COOKING RECIPE
Step 1
Gut herring, peel skin and bones, cut into fillets.
Step 2
Cut herring fillet into small pieces.
Step 3
Peel, wash, dry the onion, cut into half rings. Fold into a bowl.
Step 4
Pour the onion with a mixture of apple cider vinegar and water, add pepper, sugar, stir and let stand for 20-25 minutes.
Step 5
Wash the dill, dry it, chop finely. In a bowl combine ketchup "Krasnodarskiy" Maheev, water, sweet paprika, chopped dill, sugar, mix.
Step 6
Peel the garlic, chop finely. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan and fry the garlic for 1-2 minutes.
Step 7
Pour the tomato-dill marinade into the pan, stir and bring to a boil, turn off the heat and let the marinade cool until warm. You can pour from a skillet into a cup to cool down faster.
Step 8
Put some of the herring pieces in a bowl.
Step 9
Drain the liquid from the onion and put some of the onion on top of the herring.
Step 10
Pour some of the tomato-dill marinade.
Step 11
Continue layers until all ingredients are gone. Put the appetizer in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
