Sweet and sour chicken
A striking representative of Asian cuisine, built on a harmonious combination of flavors, colors, aromas and textures.
Ingredients
- chicken fillets 600 g
- bell pepper 1 pc.
- onion 1 pc.
- canned pineapples 200 g
- pineapple juice 250 g
- protein 1 pc.
- potato starch (for the sauce) 1 tsp with a slide
- potato starch 30 g
- soy sauce 4 tbsp
- apple cider vinegar 1 tbsp
- honey (liquid) 1 tbsp.
- ground ginger 1 tbsp
- ketchup 3 tbsp
- garlic 4 cloves
- salt to taste
- ground black pepper 1 pinch
- ground red pepper 1 pinch
- vegetable oil
STEP-BY-STEP COOKING RECIPE
Step 1

Wash the chicken fillet and cut into pieces. Place the chopped meat in a bowl, add 2 tbsp. l. soy sauce, salt, pepper and stir. Cover the bowl with pieces of chicken fillet with plastic foil and marinate in the refrigerator for 2.5 hours.
Step 2

Peel the onion and cut it into small cubes. Peel the bell peppers and cut into large cubes. Cut canned pineapples into small pieces (do not pour out the juice from the can, it will come in handy when making sweet and sour sauce).
Step 3

Separate the white from the yolk, add a pinch of salt and whisk lightly. Add 30 gr. starch, 1 tbsp. l. soy sauce and stir all the ingredients.
Step 4

Put the marinated chicken pieces in the batter and mix. Fry the chicken in olive oil in portions, placing the pieces in the pan at a short distance from each other. Place the fried chicken fillet on paper towels.
Step 5

Prepare the necessary ingredients for making the sweet and sour sauce. In the same pan where the chicken was fried, put onions, peppers and fry them, stirring constantly for 5 minutes. Stir a teaspoon of starch with a slight slide in a glass of pineapple juice. Put chopped pineapples in a frying pan with onions and peppers, pour the juice with starch and mix. Then add liquid honey, apple cider vinegar, 1 tbsp. l. soy sauce, ground ginger, ketchup, red and black ground pepper, salt.
Step 6

Finally, add the garlic, passed through a press, and mix. Put the chicken in the prepared sauce, stir and leave to simmer for 5 minutes.
Step 7

Chicken in sweet and sour sauce is best combined with boiled round-grain rice!
