How to overcome your sugar cravings

Craving something sweet is completely normal and natural. There is nothing criminal about indulging yourself in a couple of chocolates or a piece of cake sometimes, but unfortunately for some people, sweets are a real drug, and cravings for them are a huge problem.

What if you want to eat a chocolate bar or cake all the time?

For most people, the frequent desire to eat something sweet arises due to the fact that the general human diet is not formed correctly. It usually lacks complex carbohydrates. Their bodies try to compensate for glucose and starch deficiencies with sweets in order to get energy quickly. Therefore, first of all, it is important to form a balanced general diet in which proteins, fats and carbohydrates will be present in the required amount.

If you feel that you are strongly drawn to sweets, allow yourself to eat a small piece of chocolate or cake, but do it consciously: that is, without being distracted by watching TV, talking on the phone, flipping through the feed on social networks or reading. You need to try to concentrate on this small piece of cake or chocolate in order to feel well the whole range of pleasure that it can bring. Alternatively, you can replace chocolate with something less nutritious - dried apricots or raisins. But then again, eat a small amount and chew thoroughly to enjoy the taste.

If craving for sweets has become a problem for you, you should contact a specialist to check your health, for example, an endocrinologist. Sometimes it is worth visiting a psychotherapist: he will help you find out if you have any problems that you are trying to eat sweets, and if they can be solved in other ways. Sometimes psychological problems are seized by the sweet: attention deficit, family troubles, personal difficulties.
