Hapama stuffed pumpkin
If pumpkins grow in your garden or you know someone who grows them, choose small pumpkins for this dish, 500 grams each, and make portioned hapama.
Ingredients
- 1 round pumpkin weighing 2 kg
- 1 medium onion
- 100 g dark raisins
- 50 g shelled walnuts
- 50 g rice
- 100 g butter
- 1 st. l. ghee
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- salt
STEP-BY-STEP COOKING RECIPE
Step 1
Cut off the top third of the pumpkin and use a knife and a sharp spoon to remove all the pulp with seeds so that the walls are about 1.5 cm thick.
Step 2
For the filling, finely chop the onion and fry over medium heat in melted butter, 3 minutes. Add rice and sauté until golden brown.
Step 3
Soak the raisins in boiling water for 10 minutes, then put them on a sieve. Chop the walnuts. Remove the seeds from the pumpkin pulp, chop the pulp finely, add fried onions with rice, raisins, nuts, salt and cinnamon, mix well.
Step 4
Fill the pumpkin with the filling, pour in 150 ml of water, cover with the cut top, place on a greased baking sheet and bake in an oven preheated to 170 ° C until soft, about 2 hours.
Step 5
Cut the finished pumpkin into pieces, pour over melted butter and serve.
