Onion and pepper jam for cheese
If desired, this jam can be made spicy by adding a couple of red bell peppers
Ingredients
- 1 kg of hot yellow onions
- 2 red bell peppers
- 500 g of sugar
- 150 ml wine vinegar
- 1 tsp juniper berries
- 1 tbsp salt
STEP-BY-STEP COOKING RECIPE
Step 1
Peel the onions and bell peppers, cut into 1.5 cm pieces, season with salt and let stand for 10 minutes.
Step 2
Mix sugar and vinegar, add crushed juniper berries, boil the syrup.
Step 3
Put sugar and onion in the syrup, cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, until the syrup thickens and the vegetables caramelize, 1 hour. Cool before serving.
