Sarma - Stuffed Leaves

Sarma (Turkish cabbage rolls) is a fragrant minced meat wrapped in grape leaves. Incredibly delicious dish! Small, the size of a little finger, sarma is laid out in a slide on a dish. It is served with yogurt sauce with crushed garlic.

Ingredients
  • grape leaves 20 pcs.
  • minced meat 300 g
  • onion 1 pc.
  • rice 5 tbsp
  • a handful of pine nuts
  • tomato sauce 1-2 tbsp
  • mint 4 sprigs
  • parsley 3 sprigs
  • zira 1 tsp.
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste
  • lemon 1 pc.

STEP-BY-STEP COOKING RECIPE

Step 1
Rinse the grape leaves, cut the petioles and pour boiling water until the water cools down to room temperature.
Step 2
Chop the onion in a blender and simmer a little in a pan, avoiding frying. Dry the nuts in the microwave. Chop parsley and mint. Mix everything together with the minced meat, add spices, salt, a little lemon juice. Mix well.
Step 3
Put a little minced meat on the edge of the sheet 1-2 tsp. and wrap the minced meat in grape leaves.
Step 4
Sarma is made very small in size, about the size of a finger. So wrap all the leaves.
Step 5
Place the sarma tightly in a saucepan, put 2-3 lemon rings between each layer.
Step 6
Stir the tomato sauce in the water and pour over the sarma. So that it does not float up and does not unfold during stewing, I advise you to put a plate on top of a smaller diameter than a saucepan.
Step 7
Simmer over low heat for 40-60 minutes.
Step 8
Put the sarma on a plate. Serve with sarma yoghurt sauce with crushed garlic.
