Turkish berek with meat filling (simple)
Ingredients
  • FOR TEST:
  • wheat flour 1 kg
  • salt 1 tsp
  • water 510 ml
  • vegetable oil
  • For filling:
  • minced beef 600 g
  • salt to taste
  • mixture of peppers to taste
  • onion 4 pcs.
  • vegetable oil 4 tablespoons
  • ground paprika-to taste

STEP-BY-STEP COOKING RECIPE

Step 1
For the dough, sift the flour into a bowl. Add salt.
Step 2
Add water and knead to a soft elastic dough.
Step 3
Place the dough on a work surface and knead the dough well without dust. Put the dough in a bowl, cover with a towel and leave for 20-30 minutes.
Step 4
While the dough is resting, start filling. Peel the onions.
Step 5
Chop the onion not very finely.
Step 6
Add vegetable oil to a preheated frying pan, fry the onion first, then add minced meat, spices, salt and fry until tender. Do not dry the minced meat.
Step 7
Divide the matched dough into 2 parts, lightly dust the work table with flour, roll sausages from each part.
Step 8
Divide each dough piece into 10 equal balls, place the balls in a bowl and cover with a towel.
Step 9
Roll each ball into a not very thin cake. Grease the plates with vegetable oil and on each of them put the rolled flat cakes in a stack, each time sandwiching them with vegetable oil. Cover the plates with a towel and leave the stacks for 10 minutes.
Step 10
Turn the dough stack over and place it in the skillet before shaping the pie. Stretch the stack of dough well with your hands in the pan into a thin layer (slightly larger than the diameter of the pan itself). The dough is pliable and stretches very well by hand.
Step 11
Place the cooled meat filling.
Step 12
Stretch the second pile of dough into a thin circle on the work table, put on the meat filling, connect the edges of the dough. Lightly brush the top of the pie with vegetable oil. Use a sharp knife to cut the pie into segments (do not cut to the end).
Step 13
Bake borek in preheated to 180 degrees in the oven until golden brown (about 30-40 minutes).
