Poppy roll (unleavened)
A worthy analogue of traditional poppy seed puffs and a yeast roll with poppy seeds beloved by many.
Ingredients
- chicken egg 2 pcs.
- raw sugar 75 g
- natural yogurt 50 g
- butter 35 g
- whole wheat flour 250 g
- baking soda 2 g
- milk 150 ml
- poppy 150 g
- corn starch 10 g
- vanilla extract 3 ml
- salt pinch (s)
STEP-BY-STEP COOKING RECIPE
Step 1
For the dough: gently break the eggs into a deep bowl, immediately transfer 1 yolk to a separate bowl (to grease the roll before baking). Add 25 g of sugar, yoghurt and melted butter to the egg and remaining protein. Beat.
Step 2
Sift flour and soda into a liquid mixture, knead a soft dough. After placing it on a floured table, continue kneading with your hands until the dough stops sticking. Form a ball and set aside in the refrigerator (while preparing the filling).
Step 3
For the filling: pre-soak the poppy seeds, rinse and grind in a mortar or pass through a meat grinder / blender, then mix with the remaining sugar, starch, pour in milk and (over low heat) boil the mixture until a homogeneous paste is formed (30-45 minutes). Flavor to taste with vanilla extract (can be replaced with vanilla), cool.
Step 4
Bake the roll in convection mode for about 35 minutes. Chop completely cooled.
