Red Lentils, Tomatoes and Ginger
Ingredients
  • 2 large meaty tomatoes or 300 g chopped tomatoes in their own juice
  • 5 cm fresh ginger root
  • 1-2 green chili peppers
  • 450 g red lentils
  • 0.5 tsp. ground turmeric, coriander, chili flakes
  • 2 tbsp. l. tamarind paste or lime juice
  • 4-5 cloves of garlic
  • 5 tbsp. l. olive oil
  • 3-4 sprigs of cilantro
  • salt

STEP-BY-STEP COOKING RECIPE

Step 1
Blanch fresh tomatoes, peel and cut into large pieces. Grate the ginger on a fine grater, finely chop the chili pepper (without or with seeds). Combine cooked foods with lentils in a large saucepan.
Step 2
Add tamarind paste or lime juice, salt and ground coriander. Stir. Remove from heat.
Step 3
Arrange the lentils on plates. Add the finely chopped cilantro and drizzle with the spicy butter from the skillet. Serve hot.
