Tortillas with paprika and turmeric
Ingredients
- 800 g flour + a little more for rolling out
- 6 tbsp. l. vegetable oil
- melted butter
- 1 tsp. ground paprika and turmeric
- 2 tsp salt
STEP-BY-STEP COOKING RECIPE
Step 1
Sift the paprika and turmeric flour into a large bowl, add 180 ml of cold drinking water, salt and half the vegetable oil, knead into a soft, slightly sticky dough.
Step 2
Add remaining vegetable oil and knead again. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and let sit for 30 minutes.
Step 3
Then mold the dough into balls a little smaller than a golf ball, dip each in flour. Place a dry, heavy-bottomed skillet over medium heat (or on a wire rack over coals). On a floured surface, roll 1 ball into a thin flat cake about 20 cm in diameter.
Step 4
Turn the cake over, fry for 20 seconds, sprinkle with melted butter, turn over. Fry for a few seconds, drizzle with melted butter and turn again.
Step 5
Place the finished tortillas in a bowl and cover. Serve warm. If you've baked the tortillas beforehand, they can be quickly reheated over coals.
