Basic recipe for millet porridge
Ingredients
  • 180 g of wheat
  • 625 ml water
  • 200-250 ml milk (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • berries or fruits for serving

STEP-BY-STEP COOKING RECIPE

Step 1
Rinse the millet in hot water until the water is clear.
Step 2
Bring water to a boil in a small saucepan. Add salt and rinsed cereals. Cover the pot with a lid and simmer over low heat for 25-30 minutes, until all the water is absorbed. Add milk if desired and boil the cereal for another 10-15 minutes.
Step 3
Remove from the stove and leave to stand under the lid for 5 minutes. Serve with berries or chopped fruit, or use as a base for other dishes: pancakes or fritters, gate fillings, polenta or popcorn.
