Fish cutlets

Fish cakes are a very homemade dish. There is nothing better than Mom's cutlet with mashed potatoes and pickles, and a cold cutlet can be eaten simply by placing it on a piece of bread. The most suitable fish for cutlets is cod, but so that the cutlets do not turn out to be dry, it is better to buy fish chilled.

Ingredients
  • 1 kg cod fillet
  • 3 slices of white bread
  • 4 eggs
  • 150 ml of milk
  • 80 g butter
  • 3 medium onions
  • breadcrumbs
  • 1 tbsp. l. dried dill
  • olive oil
  • salt, freshly ground black pepper

STEP-BY-STEP COOKING RECIPE

Step 1
Remove the crusts from the bread, soak the crumb in milk. Peel the onion and cut into 4 pieces. Chop the cod fillets and grind together with the onions through a medium wire grinder.
Step 2
Squeeze the bread out of the milk and add to the minced meat. Beat 2 eggs lightly and pour into minced meat. Add dried dill, salt and pepper and knead well. Put the minced meat in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
Step 3
Grate cold butter and mix quickly with minced meat. Form patties with wet hands.
Step 4
Beat the remaining eggs in a bowl. Pour the breadcrumbs onto a plate. Dip the patty into an egg and then into breadcrumbs.
Step 5
Heat a skillet with olive oil and fry the patties on both sides until golden brown. Transfer the patties to a baking sheet and place in the oven preheated to 170 ° C for 10 minutes.
Step 6
Serve the fish cakes hot with melted butter or cold with tartar sauce.
