Apple jam with saffron
The perfect jam to get through the winter cold. It has long been noticed that when boiling or baking, winter apples show their best side: the water evaporates, the sweetness is concentrated, the taste becomes more expressive. The final touch is a pinch of saffron. Not jam - pure gold.
Ingredients
- 800 g apples
- juice of 1 lemon
- 550 g of sugar
- 1 cinnamon stick
- a pinch of saffron
STEP-BY-STEP COOKING RECIPE
Step 1
Wash the apples, cut in half and remove the seeds.
Step 2
Place the apples in a saucepan, fill with water so that it covers the halves. Cook over medium heat until the apples are very soft (about 20-30 minutes after boiling).
Step 3
Rub the mass through a sieve.
Step 4
Return to saucepan, add cinnamon, saffron, sugar, lemon juice. Cook for 1.5 hours, constantly skimming off the foam.
Step 5
Put the hot jam in jars, cool and store in the refrigerator.
