Greek style meatballs
The meatballs are very juicy and tender due to the cottage cheese. And the sauce is simply incredibly tasty!
Ingredients
- for meatballs: minced beef 400 g
- onion 1 pc.
- garlic (cloves) 2 pcs.
- cottage cheese 100 g
- egg 1 pc.
- slices of white bread 3 pcs.
- milk or cream 2 tbsp
- mustard 1 tsp
- greens to taste 1/2 bunch (s)
- salt 1/2 tsp
- pepper 1 pinch (s)
- flour for breading 3 tbsp.
- for the sauce: onion 2 pcs.
- carrots 1 pc.
- bulgarian pepper 2 pcs.
- tomatoes 2 pcs.
- tomato paste 2 tbsp
- ketchup 3 tbsp
- starch 1 tbsp.
- sugar 1 tbsp
- hot water or broth 300 ml
- garlic (cloves) 2 pcs.
- 1/2 bunch greens (a)
- salt 3 pinch (s)
- pepper 1 pinch (s)
STEP-BY-STEP COOKING RECIPE
Step 1
Add finely chopped herbs and a few tablespoons of cream or milk. Mix again, season with salt, pepper, add your favorite spices and seasonings. I added nutmeg, Provencal herbs and thyme. Form meatballs from minced meat, breaded in flour and fry on both sides in vegetable oil.
